Just Add Ink #305 - Just Add Sympathy

Hello hello ~

Another Friday is here...which means a week from today I'll be in Sydney for On Stage with lots of my crafty friends. So looking forward to seeing a few of my gorgeous Just Add Ink girlfriends too. That's always the highlight.

Speaking of which, we have a new challenge for you all today from Jan.  As much as we don't like to create these cards they are a necessity in our stash.  I have found it's always best to have them on hand rather than try to make one when you really need to.  So this week we're adding Sympathy.

You all know I'm a CAS (clean and simple) gal at the best of times, but when it comes to Sympathy cards lots of white space is my 'go to'.  ALWAYS!  I used the timeless classic Stippled Blossoms, on Shimmery White c/s and stamped in Strawberry Slush (stamped off for the base) - I even fussy cut a layer and popped it up on dimensionals. The leaves are Pear Pizzazz and Wild Wasabi.  My sentiment is from the Clearly Besotted set Many Messages. Hope you like.

Your project doesn't have to be a card.  It could be a gift bag, tag or box, or memory keeping in any form....so please do pop over to JAI and get some inspiration.  We love having you join our weekly challenges, and it's always so fun to visit your blogs and share the love.

Well not a huge amount happening in my world this weekend.  That would be because in just a few weeks we're off to Hawaii and New York for the month of May.  Still an awful lot to do and organise before then of course so I'm not really feeling the excitement just yet.  In fact I'm feeling slightly panicked just now.  BUT New York fascinates me and I can't wait to get there.  I'll fill you in some more next week.  Bye for now.

Just Add Ink #281 - Just Add a Colour Combo

Hello and happy Friday ~

Before I get to my card I want to wish my beautiful BFF, Trish a super wonderful happy birthday today! I hope you and your gorgeous little guy have some fun plans today.  Thinking of you and missing you loads!  Totally wish I was there.

There's a new challenge over at Just Add Ink!   Di wants us to choose our favourite three colours. Fun huh!  I went with Rose Red, Pink Pirouette and Smoky Slate because they are my faves for this week. Lol, I know you all understand - favourites change all the time!

I used the PTI Linen Impression Plate on my mat layer here, and the sentiment is from Clearly Besotted and heat embossed with Smoky Slate e/p (retired).  There is lots of shimmer on this card irl but the photo hasn't picked it up :(

Yet again I've been very short on time for one reason or another.  I even missed blogging my 'glimmer' card last week.  Shame on me.  Suffice to say it was pretty, pink and perfect for BFF's birthday!  I arrived home earlier this week from five fun days in Queensland with said BFF and her beautiful family.  The weather was kind and not too hot.  We did a bit of shopping, visited the Eat Street Markets - AWESOME - stopped in at a real life craft store (of which we don't really have in Canberra nowadays) and did lots of lazing around chatting (and eating).  The highlight of course was her baby boy's Baptism.  I am now officially his Godmother.  So. Very. Proud!

Please make sure you head over to JAI and see what the lovely ladies have created for your inspiration this week. Hope you find time to join this fun challenge with us.  Enjoy your weekend! I'm planning on catching up around here, making a few cards and sharing some of the pics I've been promising for weeks now.

Just Add Ink #271 - Just Add a Sketch

Today is going to be a good, good day ~

My big boy is coming home (finally) from Borneo.  I can't wait to see him.  There are going to be lots of cuddles and I'm looking forward to hearing all his stories and the adventures he's been experiencing.  Hope to see some pics too!

We have a lovely new sketch challenge over at Just Add Ink today, courtesy of Narelle.  I made my card for a beautiful friend who celebrated her 50th birthday yesterday.  Using the gorgeous new Timeless Elegance papers and coordinating colours - Basic Black, Sahara Sand and Very Vanilla - I inked up my Stippled Blossoms stamps.  The photo doesn't show the dimension on this card, or the shimmer on the flowers, but trust me, they're quite lush in real life.

We'd love you to join the challenge this week.  Pop over to JAI and check out the design team inspiration.  Here is the sketch for you.
All things open house are still on the go.  Sigh.  The auction is next weekend so there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  Once that's done and dusted things will really kick into gear with the big move. My craft room will be packed up for a few weeks :(  Any spare moment I've had lately has been spent at my desk.  I've been busily creating and trying to get ahead with my deadlines.  I am looking forward to re-furbishing my new craft room - shopping for new furniture, having lights installed etc. Lots to do, but it's going to be loads of fun.

Does anyone watch Wayward Pines on Foxtel?  It has me completely intrigued and I still can't figure out quite what's going on.  If you've got any ideas, please do share :)

Thanks for stopping by today.

Just Add Ink #266 - Just Add a Colour Combo

Hi crafty friends ~

There's a new challenge over at Just Add Ink, and Nikki has given us the lovely colour combo of
Pink Pirouette, Night of Navy and Gold to work with this week.  If you haven't already noticed, I'm super fond of beautiful flower images.  So sad that Stippled Blossoms has retired, however, I'll be keeping it forever.

I don't keep a lot in the way of gold in my craft stash.  I really didn't want to heat emboss my leaves, so I used an ink that would give a gold-ish tone.  Did it work?  The glittery gold enamel dots are from My Mind's Eye - Ashbury Heights.

The design team have created some absolutely beautiful cards using this colour combo, and  I really can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with.  Head over to JAI, check out the inspiration and link up.

News with us this week....we're gearing up to put the house on the market.  That means lots of sorting and packing and cleaning.  Sigh.  Lucky I'm not a hoarder (excluding craft items of course) and so it really isn't a huge job. Photos are being taken early next week then the 'open house' starts every weekend for a month.  Not looking forward to that - living in it and keeping it presentable with toddlers and a teenager (not to mention the dog and the bunny) in tow just does my head in.  Anyway it is what it is.  Wish me luck!

Gorgeous Kid had his last pre expedition check this week.  Everything is in order and two weeks yesterday he heads off to Borneo for what I expect will be a life changing experience.

Just Add Ink #262 - Just Add a Colour Combo - More Convention Pics

Woohoo it's Friday ~

This week the new Just Add Ink colour challenge was suggested by Di.  Her colours for us to use are Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz.

I knew what I wanted to do with this card ... but I was struggling adding the Pool Party ... as it was I ended up having to substitute my seam binding with Soft Sky.  Anyway it all came together in the end.  Once again I left it to the very last minute to photograph so it was taken in poor light and I've over exposed it in editing - the upside is that you can see the shimmer I added to the Stippled Blossoms :)

This is already in the post to a special birthday girl, although I doubt it's going to make it on time. Happy birthday for Saturday dear Narelle.  Hope your boys spoil you thoroughly and your day turns into a whole week of celebrations.

We'd love you to join the colour challenge fun this week.  For more inspiration head over to JAI and check out what the design team have posted for you.  Don't forget to link up.

As mentioned in my previous post here are a couple more Convention pics (I'll share the last of them next week).

A bit blurry but this is the only pic I have of my beautiful friend (and upline) Christine Blain and myself

Poor lighting has made this a very pink pic - from left Jodene, me, Nikki and Narelle

Look at this bunch of fresh faced girls early Sunday morning - a quick selfie before saying our goodbyes and heading home to our respective States (and Territories)

A quick wrap up of my week ... I had a really lovely Mother's Day and was thoroughly spoiled with lots of kisses and cuddles from the kids, all meals cooked for me, no housework and lots of time to sit and read my book which resulted in a little afternoon nap!  The weather was freezing so it was the perfect indoors day.  Canberra has cooled significantly this past week! Not at all looking forward to more of the same as Winter gets closer.

Special birthday wishes today to my mum.  I'm sure you're watching over us and know we are all thinking of you today.
