Just Add Ink #298 - Just Add anything with V

Hello friends ~

Well I missed blogging last week *insert sad face*.  I was extremely time poor...with the twins starting preschool and switching our swimming lesson day, Gorgeous Kid returning to school and of course all the notes home that I needed to read through, and action.  And that was only week one! My routine has been so messed up and I don't cope well with that.  Week two is coming to an end and I've had a better handle on things this week thankfully.  Still some fine tuning to do though - I'm hoping at least some of you can relate and it's not just me struggling with the back to school rush?!

Welcome to the new challenge at Just Add Ink!  This week Tina has suggested we add anything with a V - perfectly timed for Valentine's Day.  And that's just what I did.  I love the little Chubby Chums images from Paper Smooches and couldn't resist adding them to the awesome SU Crumb Cake note cards and envelopes.  The perfect size for school lunch boxes, however, I'm thwarted this year with Valentine's Day falling on a Sunday.  Perhaps I'll serve them up with a special brekky....

I added some Real Red Glimmer Paper hearts to this little guy.

And some Blushing Bride Glimmer paper hearts to this little miss.

I'm sure there are loads of other 'V' ideas and the design team would love to see them, so please share your gorgeous creations with us.  Pop over to JAI and get yourself some inspiration.

I've got a social weekend ahead - catching up with a long time friend Friday night, dinner with a few special girlfriends Saturday night and next week my in-laws are arriving from interstate to stay for just over a week (the twins are turning 4) so we're hanging new blinds in the room they'll be using. It's one of those jobs we just keep putting off...good reason to get it done.

Hope you've got some fun plans for the weekend!

Just Add Ink #247 - Just Add Love Blog Hop

Wow!  It feels like so long since I've been here...happy new year & happy Friday!

We Just Add Ink girls have had a fabulous long and restful break, and we're back today with a super special blog hop!  Christine has given us the challenge of 'adding love using a tag design'.

You will have hopped here from Rochelle's blog.  Stunning card huh?  There are 13 stops on our blog hop, and it's set up in a loop so it doesn't matter where you start.  All you need to do to follow along is click on the JAI blog hop button at the end of each post and you'll be taken to the next stop!  If you get stuck just head over to the JAI blog to find all the links.

I've gone with white on white - a favourite of mine, with a touch of black, silver and red.  I used a couple of the Love Story Project Life cards for my tag and sentiment, ooooh and those gorgeous little black sequins are from the matching accessory pack.  The pic doesn't show it well but the raised mat has been embossed with the PTI Linen & Canvas Impression Plate - it adds a nice subtle texture. I've also given the whole card a little spritz with some Champagne Shimmer Mist (now unfortunately retired - although I hoarded some because it is one of my MOST favourite items EVER).

We'd love you to join the blog hop challenge fun this week.  Here is the sketch if you find yourself with time to get crafty.  Remember you can make any project you like, so long as it features a tag!

Thanks for stopping by today, and thanks for all the lovely comments you take the time to leave me - you make my day, truly!  Click on the button below to visit the super talented and gorgeous Nikki.

Just Add Ink #204 - Just Add a Colour Combo

Yay it's Friday ~

The ever so lovely Nikki provided us with a Colour Combo of Pistachio Pudding, Crumb Cake and Gold over at Just Add Ink this week.  I must admit that I don't use a lot of Gold in my crafting and so I didn't have much more choice than good old embossing powder.  Boring huh!

I do love this sentiment from the Perfect Pennants stamp set.  The ink splatter was made using the Colour Spritzer Tool and Crumb Cake Stampin' Write Marker - I really need to pull this handy little tool out more often.  It took care of all that white space nicely.  I made this card for a friend to give her husband on Valentine's Day.

Pop over to Just Add Ink and see what the other lovely ladies have provided for your inspiration this week. Hope you find the time to play along with us.

I have a few special plans lined up today and I can't wait.  It's going to be a good day!  On the downside it's the last day of Summer and Autumn officially starts tomorrow *insert sad face*.  Autumn is my least favourite season of the year.  I do love all the pretty coloured leaves, but I really don't like them falling off the trees leaving them bare and bald.  It's a sign that the freezing cold weather is on its way.  Boo!

Valentine - Card in a Box

Hi friends ~

I've been meaning to pop by and show you my very first Card in a Box all week.  It wasn't the easiest to photograph but here it is.

I've used Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Whisper White c/s, papers and inks.  There is also some heat and stick powder, and dazzling diamonds, white heat embossing and of course the delicious Silver Glimmer paper.  A little touch of Cherry Cobbler and the white Stampin' Chalk Marker brightens things up a bit.

Stamp sets used are Hearts a Flutter and Perfect Pennants.  I used several different framelits and dies - if you want more info feel free to email me, or leave a comment and I'll be happy to help you.

I had a hard time keeping it flat as it's been open on the dining table since Valentine's day.  It fits perfectly in a C6 envelope for posting - what an awesome 'wow' card to receive in the mail!  I followed a super simple video tute from Tanya Bell, you can find it here.

We have a celebration happening at our house this weekend.  The twins are having their second birthday. They're not really sure what all the fuss is about, but I have no doubt they're going to enjoy candles and cake!  Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you enjoy your weekend as much as I'm going to enjoy mine!

Addicted to CAS Challenge #5 - HEART

Happy Australia Day to all you Aussies!

I hope you've had an extra special day doing extra special things that mean something to you and your loved ones this Australia Day.  I thoroughly enjoyed the concert last night - I always enjoy Jimmy!

It's challenge time over at Addicted to CAS.  Lovely Loll is our host this fortnight and her chosen code word is HEART.  Such perfect timing with Valentine's Day coming up.  And for those of you who don't celebrate maybe you could send a friend a reminder of how much they mean to you?  I always make a card for Gorgeous Kid and hide it in his lunch box - hmmm given he's starting high school this year maybe I'd best not do that.  I'd hate to embarrass him in front of all the 'big' kids.  Lol.

A layered mat of Crumb Cake stamped with the retired Linen b/g stamp, on CC card base.  A Very Vanilla Nestie circle.  A luscious sparkly red heart and a little Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding and CC Button/Twine and voila a CAS Valentine (or whatever) Card.  I love CAS!

Our wonderful sponsor for this week is Annabelle Stamps.  Andrea will be awarding our CAS Perfectionist a $10 gift voucher. If you'd like to play along with us this fortnight please be sure to read our rules so you're in the running for the prize.  Let your imagination run wild and remember ... keep it Clean and Simple (CAS).

The 'Opposite' Card - A Valentine

Oooops I'm here a little bit later than I planned to be today. Gorgeous Kid and I have just arrived home from dinner with friends at Hog's Breath - yum!

I mentioned in my previous post to pop back and see my 'opposite' card. Well here it is ... red on white this time. I love these little felt flowers.

Which do you prefer?

JAI#103...Just Add Red & White

Happy Friday friends ~

It's time for our weekly Just Add Ink Challenge and this week Mae has given us the lovely colour combo of Red and White - any Red you like. With Valentines Day coming up I went with that theme, however, not being a huge fan of all things lovey dovey I've kept it pretty CAS.

I've used Real Red c/s and the gorgeous Polka Dot embossing folder for my front panel which is popped up on dimensionals. Using a couple of Dies I cut my roses and leaves out of felt. Hope you like!

Head over to JAI to check out the Challenge details and get some gorgeous inspiration from the other fabulous design team members.

Pop back tomorrow and I'll show you the opposite to this card.

Enjoy your Friday.

Happy Valentines Day!

Good Monday morning ~

Happy Valentines day to you all! I popped a little 3x3 'I love You' card in Gorgeous Kid's school lunch bag today, I hope it doesn't embarrass him in front of his mates. That would defeat the purpose entirely wouldn't it! lol

A little share today - this is what I like to call an opposite CASE.

You'll see what I mean if you check out this card by Laurie over at Soapbox Creations. I just loved what she did with the sketch and so I did the opposite colours for my CASE.

I made my own dsp and grunged it a little around the edges with Soft Suede ink. The sentiment is a rub-on and I black embossed one of the images from the I {Heart} Hearts s/set.

Hope you like. Enjoy the rest of your day!

JAI#55...Just Add Love

Good Friday morning lovelies ~

Lots of love and romance in the air at this time of the year ... do you have any special Valentine plans over the weekend, or on Monday? None here I'm afraid lol.

At Just Add Ink this week we've added LOVE. My little creation is a Valentine gift for Gorgeous Kid. He's the male in my life and each year I give him a little treat of some sort - it makes me feel good, and that's the main thing right? lol

I've popped a little cello bag full of lollies inside for him - Berry Bliss to be exact, his absolute all time favourite and very safe around here because I don't like them at all - the goo in the middle puts me off.

My heart shaped treat box uses Real Red c/s and I've decorated that with RR dsp, a WW strip punched with the Scallop Trim Border, some delicious RR Satin Ribbon, a little bit of bling and a few hearts from the I {Heart} Heart set - stamped in RR and Soft Suede. My photography skills are seriously lacking, you can only just see that I popped a 3x3 coordinating note card in too.

I can't wait to see what you all come up with this week. I'm looking forward to all the different colour combinations and hopefully some great masculine Valentine card ideas. Like most people I struggle with male cards a lot of the time. If you need some inspiration head on over to JAI and check out the design team projects - divine, all of them! While you're there catch up on some BIG news!

Have a fabulous weekend all.

JAI#28 - Just Add Manliness & Colour Combo

Woo hoo nearly the weekend ~

This week over at Just Add Ink you'll find another fun challenge. It's all about the men in our lives, with a colour challenge thrown in for good measure. Fortunately Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze and Kraft are some of my fave colours!

I have to admit to being slightly stumped initially. The only 'man' in my life is gorgeous kid. Now had the word 'manliness' not been in the challenge title I would have tried to be really sneaky and made it for a young male - how easy would that have been lol. On with it...this is what I came up with, hope you like.

I've popped the Kraft section up on dimensionals, along with the little Baja hearts as well. Kind of nice to use a colour other than red for 'love'. A teensy little bit of a 'knot' of choc chip ribbon and a great little sentiment from the Fun & Fast Notes stamp set. It reads 'thanks for sharing you with me'.

When I purchase sets with images and sentiments on the same piece of rubber I cut and separate them into two stamps, using two sides or ends of the same block. It becomes much more versatile and I don't have to fiddle with markers or masking when I just want to use one or the other. A great time saver. Give it a try if you haven't already.

To join in the fun head over to Just Add Ink and see all the other fabulous inspiration ideas the design team has created for you. Enjoy your weekend!
