Hello crafty friends ~
Well school holidays week one is almost done and dusted. We've had lovely sunny warm weather up until yesterday! It's been pouring rain ever since. Canberra always seems to get a cold snap in late September, just when we think the really warm weather is on its way. It's meant a couple of lazy days in our household though. Yay, I love the non routine - for a short while. Lol.
It's time for a brand new challenge at Just Add Ink, and this week Nikki has asked us to add wings. In my usual CAS (clean and simple) fashion I've got lots of white space with a little splash of colour - Flirty Flamingo actually. I used the 'water colour swish' from the Sunshine Sayings stamp set, and the smallest butterfly from Papillon Potpourri, heat embossed on Vellum, fussy cut (because it's about the only punch I don't own) and finished with gold accents in the form of metallic thread and sequins. Voila, done! There is quite a bit of shimmer too, you just can't see it here :(
The design team have come up with a few different 'wings' ideas for you so pop over to JAI and check them out. We hope you'll join our challenge this week. It's always so fun to see what you come up with.
I have a bit of time to myself this weekend (I'll never complain about that) so I'm planning on participating in some World Card Making Day (WCMD) activities and challenges. I'd love to hear from others who are going to do the same. Are you going to be joining the WCMD fun and frivolity?
Righto grocery shopping calls....groan. Hope your day is a bit more exciting than the next hour or two of mine is going to be :)

Just Add Ink #263 - Just Add Wedding - Last Convention pics
Good morning ~
Another Friday rolls around...I love weekends! The new Just Add Ink challenge is from Jan this week and she wants us to add a wedding theme. Sooooo many options. I had a ton of different ideas and found it really hard to settle on just one. My decision was made with the timely arrival of my new Vintage Roses stamp set from Altenew.
I used a tutorial from Linda Higgins for this fun fold scallop tag concertina card. My base uses the Shimmery White c/s - such a pretty sheen and really sturdy on its own. The mat layers are Brushed Silver c/s. So pretty together and the two add that extra elegance for a special card.
I heat embossed the large sentiment using Smoky Slate embossing powder as it's a little less glitzy than the Silver ep and I didn't want overkill with all the shimmer in the c/s already. I used the same ep on vellum for my butterflies and popped them up on dimensionals. I left one panel blank for writing on :)
I used my new MISTI to get the rose layers perfect. OMG I love that gadget. Best. Invention. Ever! My roses use the colours Real Red, Strawberry Slush and Pink Pirouette. The leaves are Wild Wasabi and Pear Pizzazz. My card is finished with the beautifully luxe Silver Satin ribbon. Honestly this card is a lot prettier irl, the photos just don't do it justice :(
It would be fabulous to have you join our wedding challenge this week. Pop over to JAI and check out the design team inspiration, and don't forget to link your project up. We love visiting your blogs and checking out your interpretation of these challenges.
It's a very exciting (and nerve wracking) weekend for us. We're in the process of buying a new house and the auction for the one we really really want is tomorrow morning. We've spent weeks getting to this point; lots of running around and doing pre settlement jobs that you normally have time to do after purchasing. I've learnt that auctions work very differently. If we win, then the contract is signed and deposit handed over on the day. Wish us luck!
Nearly forgot to add a couple of last Convention piccies for you.
Thanks for stopping by today. Hope I've given you a little inspiration to try a scallop tag concertina card soon. They're really not at all difficult.

Jodene and I with a message for our friend Karen!
Narelle and I having a moment away from the noise on one of the foyer sofas
Jodene, Narelle and I hamming it up with the props - considering the thunder storm and extreme rain going on outside our hair is sitting fairly reasonably lol

Just Add Ink #253 - Just Add Inspiration
Good Friday morning ~
I popped my Basic Black card base through the Big Shot using the Large Polka Dot embossing folder before spritzing with a little Smooch for shimmer. The added panels are Smoky Slate and Whisper White. I had wanted to use Melon Mambo ink on my accents, but had to go with Strawberry Slush instead as my MM ink pad was playing silly games and not inking nicely. Have since rectified that with a brand new one!
If you'd like to play along with our challenge this week, below is the inspiration pic for you. Choose whichever elements inspire you - it could be colours, butterflies, pom poms, water....you name it, whatever you see in the pic. Head over to JAI and check out the design team projects for other ideas. There are some pretty fabulous creations this week, and I so love how we each come up with quite different designs and ideas using the same starting point.
It's time for a brand new challenge over at Just Add Ink and this week Nikki has given us a pretty funky inspiration pic to work with. Here I am playing with tilted panels again lol.

Righto well I have a busy day ahead, and I'm off to Dendy Premium tonight for a luxurious movie experience. Love that place, and love the menu/service more!
