Just Add Ink #373 - Just Add Stencils

Happy Friday lovely friends ~

We have a brand new challenge over at Just Add Ink and Karren suggested we add stencilling to our projects this week. Fun!

Considering it's been a bitter cold few days in Canberra, this little jar of flowers looks more like spring! It was so fun to create. I broke out my new Embossing Paste & Pattern Party Decorative Masks for this card - I love the texture! If you haven't tried the new Paste you really must, it's sooo easy to use.

Another new feature on this card is the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set & matching Framelits. I didn't actually use the stamps here, rather I cut the flowers out of scraps of Whisper White c/s & used my Watercolour Pencils to add colour roughly then moved it around with my Aqua Painter. I was very happy with the result.

I'm not sure if you can see the shimmer I added with Wink of Stella in the above pic but it does show a bit more of the texture created by the Embossing Paste.

The design team has created lots of gorgeous cards for your inspiration this week so pop over to JAI & check them out. We'd love to see your own stencilled projects so join the challenge & link up!

Have a great weekend!

Just Add Ink ##367 - Just Add a Colour Combo

Happy Friday crafty friends ~

Welcome to a brand new challenge at Just Add Ink.  Today we have a colour combo from me!  Some of the girls found this a little challenging, see what you can do with Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Smoky Slate & Lemon Lime Twist.

I made a sweet thank you card for a beautiful friend of mine using the Daisy Delight stamps & matching punch.  A couple of details:

  • The stitched rectangle mat was created using the largest square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits - if you don't cut all the way through one end you can reposition the die to create a rectangle - so versatile;
  • Window Sheets are great for making little see through jars - StazOn ink & Jar of Love used here; and
  • Crystal Effects (retired) were used on the daisy centre & sprinkled with lots of Dazzling Diamonds glitter while it was still wet.

I love that bright pop of Lemon Lime Twist.  Don't you?  If you'd like to check out all the design team inspiration head over to JAI, and join us for some colour combo fun.  All the details are on the blog.

We're in the midst of school holidays here in Canberra so it's busy times all round.  Lots of fun holiday activities.  Lazy mornings in our pjs & we're all enjoying the non routine of it!  Back again soon with more to share.  Have a great weekend all.

Just Add Ink #361 - Just Choose Two

Happy Friday crafty friends ~

Kelly gave us a choice of two for the new Just Add Ink challenge this week - Flowers or Washi or Watercolour - I chose to do a watercolour wash and a little posie of flowers using the Jar of Love stamp set.  How do you like the vibrancy of Berry Burst?  Such a pretty pink!

Our neighbour's teenage daughter had an urgent surgery last week so I made this card for her.  She'll be at home recuperating for six long weeks.  I don't think she's complaining much about missing school lol.

To get the watercolour wash I used a panel of watercolour paper, spritzed it quite heavily with water and painted the ink on with a wide wet brush going from dark to light, bottom to top.  I then used my heat gun to speed up the drying process and finished by dipping a couple of fingers in water and splattering it across the panel to get the splotches you see.  I used Distress Inks Seedless Preserves (very similar in hue to Berry Burst), Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar.

If you'd like to choose your own two elements and join our challenge fun this week pop over to JAI and get some inspiration from the design team.  Lots of loveliness to whet your crafty appetite.

We've been a bit of a sick house again of late.  Sniffles and head colds aplenty.  Not so fun.  Looks to be a quiet weekend ahead for us.  Thanks for stopping by today, and enjoy your weekend!

Just Add Ink #320 - Just Add a Sketch

Good Friday morning lovely craft friends ~

There's a pretty new sketch over at Just Add Ink today.  I got to play with my new Jar of Love stamp set and framelits.  And I managed to use a couple of the new In Colours!  I've played with them a few times now - unsuccessfully, and it's all ended up in the bin.  I am having a hard time transitioning this year :o(

My base is the new Flirty Flamingo and I've used a combination of the same ink, Sweet Sugarplum, Peekaboo Peach, Pear Pizzazz and Pool Party.  Ooooh and some of the pretty new ruffled ribbon.  My flowers have been well and truly 'winked' but my pic isn't showing that here unfortunately.

Why don't you play along with the challenge this week?  Head over to JAI for some inspiration from the design team. Here's the sketch for you, courtesy of Tina.  Nice and clean, don't you agree?

It's been an unusually quieter week here for us.  Don't get me wrong, it's always crazy busy but this week didn't seem to have so much of the crazy.  Gorgeous Kid was away down the Coast with a couple of mates for a week and only returned yesterday afternoon.  It's nice to have him back.

We woke to snow in Canberra on Wednesday morning.  It was lovely to see the little flurries in the air but if I'm honest snow doesn't do it for me.  We stayed indoors anyway because it was super brisk all day - nice to have the sun shining here and there though.  The twins enjoyed some tv time....even the dog and bunny cuddled up inside most of the day lol.

I'm off to Sydney at lunch time to attend a Copic Certification course this weekend.  I hope it helps me learn to colour better.  I love colouring.  It's quite a relaxing therapy and there are oodles of gorgeous images begging for beautiful colour....so be warned, if I learn lots you may well be seeing everything coloured in Copics in the foreseeable future.  Too funny!

Righto time to get moving.  Have a fabbo weekend and as I've said numerous times over my last few posts I really will be back to show you some New York piccies - there are sooooo many to sort through.  No idea how I'm going to get them all into albums....hmmmm Project Life, that's how!
