Just Add Ink # 214 - Just Add a Sketch

Hello friends ~

It's Friday!  That means we have a brand new and fun challenge for you over at Just Add Ink.  Kim gave us a sketch this week.

I struggled with this one and threw a few early attempts in the bin.  So wasteful!  I ended up with a Basic Black base and a mat of the lovely Silver Fancy Foil Designer Vellum.  I heat embossed the flowers onto Vellum with Melon Mambo e/p and the sentiment with Silver e/p.  Using the Pinking Hearts Border punch (retired) I made a strip of Vellum and Smoky Slate to tuck under my sentiment panel.  I'm not entirely thrilled with this card but I do like the colour combo.

To check out the sketch and see what the rest of the design team has provided for your inspiration this week head over to JAI.  Hope you find the time to get inky and join us.

I cannot believe Convention is in less than two weeks.  Eeeek!  Melbourne here I come!  So exciting!  I get to see some of my beautiful crafty blog friends from Australia and New Zealand all in one place.  I don't usually make swaps because I get bored re-creating the same cards, however, I do always participate in our JAI team swap - and mine are all done woohoo.  Will share some pics after Convention.

Hope all is well in your world.  Thanks for stopping by today.

  1. So glad to hear I was not the only one that struggled with this one Patrice. And you will be please to know that I put 3 attemps in the bin too...hahaha!! I like what you have done with the vellum - the flowers and boarder - I think I will have to get some vellum out to play with now. Chantell x x

  3. Hi Patrice, finally a chance to sit down and thank you for your lovely comments on my blog. Its so nice to hear from another NZ'r that loves papercrafts. None of my friends are into it at all, so don't have anyone handy to get excited with when new stamps/die's are being released. But I've met such lovely people over the past few months through different blogs and they are all so supportive. How awful to not only lose your Dad but have it happen on your Mother's birthday! Its been a very hard journey since my Dad has gone, its strange when I don't think about it too much for a while and then I'll see someone or something that reminds me of him and I have to have a quick cry. Can imagine that will still happen for a while yet. Have just been going through your blog, you have such an eye for design and fantastic ideas for projects other than cards. I love the flowers you make, they're stunning! I desperately need to get some flower stamps and dies, have just eyed some new ones from Simon Says stamps....I'm going to spend some time this weekend trying to 'redecorate' my blog. I do have a 'follow by email' gadget thing but I need to re-arrange it all as its quite a way down the page. Have signed on to follow your blog and look forward to your next projects. It was lovely to hear from you and hope you can pop back again for a visit.
