WOYWW #47

Gosh I can't believe it's Wednesday already, the public holiday earlier this week has thrown me.

Okay so it's WOYWW again and I've decided to show you what's under it because everyone will laugh at me for my neat and tidy work space - didn't craft today!
I have a shelf built into my desk which holds my laptop (I keep a monitor and keyboard up on my desk), printer, scor pal and cutters. Notice all those 'messy' cords! Thankfully when I'm sitting at my desk I can't see them :o)

My next pic is a drawer unit to the left of my desk, I had it built to the same height as my desk for extra 'dumping' space. In the bottom drawer is all my DSP and 12x12 cardstock. The top drawer has all the A4 cardstock, filed by colour family and alphabetically. I keep neutrals at the front. You'll notice lots of flowers sitting there today (made in front of the tv last night) - hmmmm I'm in the middle of something so you'll have to wait a day or two to see what becomes of them.

So there you go, although not exactly my 'work desk' I hope you enjoy peaking - I know I absolutely love looking at where others craft and how they store things and all the cool 'stuff' they have. I might have to show you where all my stamp sets are next week!

Go over to Julia's Stamping Ground to join the fun and check out lots of other work desks!

Sweet Sunday Sketch 66

I've long admired the work of the Sweet Sunday Sketch design team and decided it was high time I give it a go myself. So here is my first SSS, I really enjoyed playing along. Again, lots of nice clean space.

I used the cupcake portion of Cuppacakeabella from Stamping Bella, paper pieced some miscellaneous dsp for the 'cup' and used my copics to do the icing, added liquid effects for gloss and topped with a dew drop. I used my nesties to cut the circle and blossom, which is 'popped' up on a strip of Red Riding Hood cs, matching taffeta ribbon tied in a bow and some more of the misc dsp.

Inkspirations Colour Challenge 21 & FTL87

Hi and happy Sunday!

I managed some time in my craft room today while gorgeous kid had a couple of friends over to play. They have been having a rowdy time on skateboards and scooters, climbing trees and using the water pistols. It's nice to hear them having so much fun. And no squabbles either!!!

I combined Keesh's Colour Challenge 21 and the Clean & Simple FTL 87 today. I do love crisp clean cards and this one is exactly that, not to mention it took all of 10 minutes to put together.

Continuing on with my 'thank you' cards...I used Bazzill White for my base as the texture matches perfectly with the SU! Blooms die cuts. I've also used Old Olive grosgrain ribbon and a clear button (backed with old olive cardstock) and a little matching DMC thread.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Vellum Butterfly

Good morning ~

This is another of the cards I put together on Thursday evening while gorgeous kid was off at a sleepover. It is a birthday card for the daughter of a friend.

Now I didn't come up with this idea myself. Recently our team had a Stamping Jamboree, where we swap cards and do demos for each other, amongst a lot of talking, eating and having fun! My sideline Trina did this gorgeous little card as her demo and knowing I had this birthday coming up I asked if I could copy it straight out. Which is basically what I did! The only downside are my 'feelers' - I'm really not good with a marker in my left hand at the moment lol.

To match is a little gift card holder. These are for a 14 year old girl, so I hope they fit the bill. Any shade of purple is probably my least favourite colour so I rarely work with them. I really must make more effort to go outside my comfort zone and try different colour combinations.

All items are SU! except the dsp which came from my stash. If you'd like some details on how to achieve this cute little butterfly just ask, I'll be happy to share :o)

My first Scallop Card

I'm back to show you my first little scallop card. I am so in love with the Big Shot dies and accessories - they make life so so simple! Once again my photography skills are lacking which doesn't help 'show off' this card but it really does look good irl.

I've kept it simple, using my all time favourite Eastern Blooms and the new Melon Mambo, with just a touch of bling!

Although I'm typing this post straight after my Baja Vintage I want to try using post options to see if I can 'schedule' it to publish later this morning. Fingers crossed all goes to plan.

What's On Your Workdesk - Wednesday #46

I just found this fun site hosted by Julia Dunnit, called What's on your Workdesk Wednesday. I've decided that I'm going to particpate each week. Depending on what's happening my desk could be spotlessly clean (I like to tidy things away at night when I'm finished because I'm a bit of a neat freak), or if I'm in the middle of something - as I am now, you'll get to see the mess I create :o)

So here are my pics for this week:
Left side of my desk where I 'dump' bits I've used.

This is the right side where all my tools are.

Notice that pile of stamps? They are waiting to be cleaned - I'm really bad and don't usually clean as I go so I pile them up and do it when I pack away. Which didn't happen last night as you can see lol.

Go check out Julia's blog to join the fun!

Baja Vintage

Hi and happy Friday!

Gorgeous kid went for a play date yesterday afternoon and ended up sleeping over. That gave me lots of free time so I hung out in my craft room, music playing, pottering about with rubber, ink and cardstock. I've made a good start on my thank you cards!

As you can see Vintage Vogue is my current fave! I really like this card, am very partial to Baja Breeze and the now retired Parisian Breeze specialty papers. I used Sahara Sand ink (stamped off first) for the small flowers as it's the closest colour to Kraft.

I'm sure all you Aussies and Kiwis are looking forward to the Anzac day long weekend. School goes back for us in the ACT next Tuesday so I have to get a wriggle on and get the winter uniform organised - time just seems to have slipped by me these holidays. Who am I kidding, time slips by me always nowadays, must be an age thing lol.

I'll be back with more later so stay tuned :o)

Riding Hood Vintage Vogue

Hi there ~

Finally I have something to show you. This card took forever to come together, and I honestly don't think it's worth that amount of time as I'm not overly happy with it. What I had in mind just didn't come to fruition no matter how much I played around. The stamping on the front looks a little busy perhaps. That said I do like the inside. I always try to dress up the inside of my cards, often just a simple little something to tie it all together.

Other news is that I'm now sporting a neon pink cast. Unfortunately I didn't have a choice of colour, apparently there have been lots of boys breaking bones and therefore none of the pink has been getting used :o) it's good to have it all tightly put together again although this one isn't waterproof so it's a real pain showering and I'm yet to figure out how I'm going to wash my hair! So three weeks of this one and then some x rays oh joy!

If you'd like any details/ingredients for the card just let me know, happy to share :o)

A good old whinge - and an update

Gee it's been well over a week since I was last here. It's mainly because my wrist has been giving me a bit of grief so I've stayed away from crafting, keyboards and all things likely to put a strain on it.

I had a hospital check up yesterday - 4 weeks since having the cast put on. Talk about a joke, they were running 2 hours behind time, the reception staff were packed up and heading home, so by the time I was taken through my specialist had disappeared off to do surgery and I ended up with some old timer with the shakes, who had no clue who I was and honestly just appeared to want to go home for dinner. He thought I'd had my x rays, told him I hadn't. He thought I'd had my cast on for 6 weeks, when it hasn't even been broken for 6 weeks! Then he ignored all the paperwork and had the cast removed!!!

I was in tears. You can see bones protruding and he suggested it was 'swelling' when I questioned it. There is some kind of support wrap on my wrist now with a metal rod running through it - can I just say it is NOT supporting anything and I can feel loose bones rattling around on their own. The old timer Dr told me to go home and do some housework!!! I briefly spoke to a different Dr on my way out and told him I wasn't sure all of this was right and what should I do....my main concern being the long term effect taking the cast off too early will have on my overall recovery and future use of my hand.

So this afternoon I saw my own GP. Thank goodness someone knows what they're doing! I am having my wrist re-cast first thing tomorrow morning - not that I loved being in the cast, it had lots of down sides, but after 24 hours without it so far I'm looking forward to having the support back on my wrist. Then the xrays will be done and I should get to see my own specialist! What a drama. How unfair it is that I should have to question the actions of a qualified Dr.

Whinge whinge, thanks for reading my ramblings :o) hopefully I'll have something crafty to show you again soon.

Annabelle Stamps - ABSC019

Wow three posts in one day, hmmm guess you can tell I'm completely bored and have almost nothing to do with myself. I've been in the craft room today 'exercising' the fingers on my injured hand - Dr's orders lol. I'm sure this isn't what he had in mind, but it feels really good to be a little creative at the moment.

My wrist is aching now so will take a break, read a book or have a little nap - must say that's been the biggest bonus of not being able to do much lately. Best be careful or I could get very used to napping each afternoon lol.

I followed the ABSC019 sketch today and made a little thank you card for gorgeous kid! He loves the new Fox & Friends set, which I've popped up on Soft Suede cs and some miscellaneous paper I had in my stash. I covered a chip board initial for the centre so he knows it's made especially for him. He always jokes with me that his mum makes cards and he's the last to receive any. He is so right though....

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Manhattan Suede

Another simple card to show you. Loving the Manhattan Flower embossing folder, it's elegant and so so simple. While I like the 'bones' of this card, there are a couple of things I wish I'd done differently.

This mother's day is going to be the second without my mum and so I don't really need to make mother's day cards now :o( I do have friends who need them though and they have me make them which is just lovely. Not sure this card will make it to any mum this year but it was a good little start - felt kind of nice to put some rubber on ink!

I've added a pillow box - perfect for gift wrapping little trinkets and bits. Unfortunately I haven't quite finished it off with a tag as too fiddly for my single hand and haven't figured out the 'knack' yet. The pillow box is one of the new BS dies, just run it through your machine and all the cutting and scoring is done for you. I love the new BS stuff!!!

I've used Soft Suede and Glossy White cs, with matching Soft Suede polka-dot grosgrain ribbon.

Manhattan Mambo

Yay it's Friday ~

I've been at it again - trying to craft one handed lol.

This little card was super simple thanks to the new BS (big shot) Manhattan Flower embossing folder. Me crafting at the moment is a sight for sore eyes - I have to sit on the floor cross legged with my cutter in the centre, using my legs to keep it steady I then use my left hand to hold the cs firm and cut at the same time - it's a bit funny. I called gorgeous kid to help again and wind the handle of my machine and voila this little card came about.

I have a lot of thanks to give for all the help I've received from good friends since my little accident. So whatever creating I manage at the moment will no doubt be 'thank you' cards :o)

I've used the new Melon Mambo and Glossy White cs, Melon Mambo polka-dot grosgrain ribbon and a Chit Chat rub-on. So easy!

Well school holidays start here in the ACT this afternoon. Gorgeous kid is off to Eden (South Coast) with his very good buddy Alex for the best part of next week. I'm going to miss him, but he's going to have such a good time and he deserves lots of fun because he's been such a big helper to me over the past 4 weeks.

Enjoy your Friday!

Razzleberry Pick of the Petals

Back again ~

Now this little box looks a lot more complex than it is. It's another Lauren Meader MTME template, so print, cut and put together basically which is about all I'm capable of at the moment. I'm sure this cute box could be dressed up lots more, but as it is I had to get gorgeous kid to help with cutting flowers etc - hasn't he done a fabulous job!!!

Unfortunately most of the pics I took were duds so the top view is missing. The lid looks like 'inverted petals' - super cute and a little bit different which I like. It's quite a good sized box too so you can fit lots in there.

I've used the new In Colour Rich Razzleberry card stock, ink and ribbon, and the new Clear Mount Vintage Vogue stamp set. It felt so good breaking out some of the new goodies I've had sitting waiting for quite some time now.

Re-draw of Blog Candy

Hi all ~

Another wet day here in Canberra, perfect for crafting for those of us with two able limbs ha!

Unfortunately Gen is unable to accept the blog candy she won because she lives all the way over in Las Vegas, so the remaining 9 names will go into a re-draw. Pulling 'tidy numbers' out now.....and have chosen number 0 (which equates to 10), so congratulations Sonya - please tell me you're in Australia!!!

Send me an email so we can organise details!

Back soon with a pic - too much text on this little blog lately :o)

Winner of Blog Candy!!!

Hi and happy Easter Monday ~

I hope you've all had a lovely relaxing Easter weekend, spending time with family, eating lots of chocolate, catching up on home chores or crafting! I wish I could say I've been creative this weekend, not so unfortunately but I have been doing lots of relaxing and reading! A dear friend came by to mow my lawn and tidy the garden for me, and I've spent some time with friends so it has been a pretty nice weekend all the same.

I did try and force my hand to do things it's not quite capable of yet - I'm managing a little stamping with my weaker left hand, but am yet to master cutting with my paper snips. I'll take a pic of what I put together tomorrow and let you judge just how I'm coming along with my one handed crafting lol.

Anyway I'm really here to tell you that 'gorgeous kid' has drawn a winner for the blog candy! Because there were ten comments it was super simple to pull out my tidy numbers stamp set and use that to do the draw - sorry too hard to handle the camera at the moment (without exhaustive measures) so you'll have to trust me when I tell you he plucked number 3 from the hat!

Congratulations Gen! Please email me (address on right side bar) and we'll sort your stamp set choice and postal address so I can get your new goodies on their way to you asap.

Blog Candy - because I can - keeping at top until draw date

Hi ho ~

It's been so quiet around here lately and I'm missing crafting very much.

So to show you all I'm still around, and to cut the boredom I have decided to throw a little parcel of goodies together. Hopefully I'll get lots of comment love (because let's face it, there isn't much else going on for me at the moment) and maybe a few more 'followers'. Big hint lol!!!

What will I put together - hmmm well I can tell you that there will be a stamp set (limited choice of sets by winner), ribbons, some new In Colour cardstock, and a few other embellishment bits and pieces. I'll have 'gorgeous kid' draw a winner this Friday 2 April. Postage within Australia only.

NOTE ADDED Fri 2 April: Since there are only three names to throw in the hat I've decided to extend the blog candy draw date until Easter Monday, 5 April!
