Just Add Ink #204 - Just Add a Colour Combo

Yay it's Friday ~

The ever so lovely Nikki provided us with a Colour Combo of Pistachio Pudding, Crumb Cake and Gold over at Just Add Ink this week.  I must admit that I don't use a lot of Gold in my crafting and so I didn't have much more choice than good old embossing powder.  Boring huh!

I do love this sentiment from the Perfect Pennants stamp set.  The ink splatter was made using the Colour Spritzer Tool and Crumb Cake Stampin' Write Marker - I really need to pull this handy little tool out more often.  It took care of all that white space nicely.  I made this card for a friend to give her husband on Valentine's Day.

Pop over to Just Add Ink and see what the other lovely ladies have provided for your inspiration this week. Hope you find the time to play along with us.

I have a few special plans lined up today and I can't wait.  It's going to be a good day!  On the downside it's the last day of Summer and Autumn officially starts tomorrow *insert sad face*.  Autumn is my least favourite season of the year.  I do love all the pretty coloured leaves, but I really don't like them falling off the trees leaving them bare and bald.  It's a sign that the freezing cold weather is on its way.  Boo!

Valentine - Card in a Box

Hi friends ~

I've been meaning to pop by and show you my very first Card in a Box all week.  It wasn't the easiest to photograph but here it is.

I've used Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Whisper White c/s, papers and inks.  There is also some heat and stick powder, and dazzling diamonds, white heat embossing and of course the delicious Silver Glimmer paper.  A little touch of Cherry Cobbler and the white Stampin' Chalk Marker brightens things up a bit.

Stamp sets used are Hearts a Flutter and Perfect Pennants.  I used several different framelits and dies - if you want more info feel free to email me, or leave a comment and I'll be happy to help you.

I had a hard time keeping it flat as it's been open on the dining table since Valentine's day.  It fits perfectly in a C6 envelope for posting - what an awesome 'wow' card to receive in the mail!  I followed a super simple video tute from Tanya Bell, you can find it here.

We have a celebration happening at our house this weekend.  The twins are having their second birthday. They're not really sure what all the fuss is about, but I have no doubt they're going to enjoy candles and cake!  Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you enjoy your weekend as much as I'm going to enjoy mine!

Just Add Ink #202 - Just Add Stripes

Hello hello ~

I'm popping in this morning to share my latest creation for the Just Add Ink challenge.  This week Paula set us the task of adding stripes.

My stripes are embossed!  I played with my new Simple Stems stamp set using the colour combo Baked Brown Sugar, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pink Pirouette and Very Vanilla.  You'll notice my ever faithful Champagne Shimmer Mist sparkling on the flowers - goodness knows how I'm going to survive when my little bottle runs out because this has long been a retired item!

Pop over to JAI and check out the design team inspiration.  Hope you're enticed to play along with us this week!

I'm off on a lunch cruise this Sunday to help celebrate a special 70th birthday.  Hope the weather plays nice - although it's been such a long time since we've seen rain I don't think anyone would complain if it started bucketing down.  This poor old (bush) city is very brown and burnt and soooo dry.  I really feel for the wildlife.  Our summer months certainly take a toll on the kangaroos, koalas and other beautiful animals we're lucky to have in Australia.

Hope you have a nice weekend lined up too!  Thanks for stopping by today.

Just Add Ink #201 - Just Add a Colour Combo

Yay for Friday ~

I'm off to get my hair cut and coloured today, and not before time because my greys are seriously taking over!

It's challenge time over at Just Add Ink and this week we have a colour combination courtesy of Kim.  The colours to work with are Island Indigo, Real Red, Pool Party and Sahara Sand.

I pulled out one of my favourite Paper Smooches stamp sets for this one.  A fair bit of paper piecing happening here ... I stamped the image several times, did lots of fussy cutting the various pieces and coloured the wheels with Copics.  I used Pool Party Baker's Twine and popped the Sahara Sand layer (cut using the Nestability Labels Two dies) up on dimensionals.

The design team has come up with some really cool cards for your inspiration, so pop over to JAI and check them out, then join the challenge fun.

The weather has cooled a little this week so it's been really pleasant.  The heat wave temps were getting A LOT too much!  I have nothing exciting planned for the weekend - I'm actually looking forward to a little crafting, reading my book and generally taking it easy.  Hope your weekend is shaping up to be just as fun!

Just Add Ink #200 - Just Add Inspiration

Hi crafty friends ~

We had a wonderful weekend away at Lake Jindabyne for the Australia Day long weekend.  The days were beautifully sunny and warm, and the nights were cool.  Gorgeous Kid had the most awesome time getting dumped off the biscuit, doing a spot of fishing and generally running wild with other kids his age.  I think the highlight was playing spotlight late at night in the pitch black!

Over at Just Add Ink we have a gorgeous Inspiration pic courtesy of Nikki for you to play along with this week.  I love the mixture of green, yellow and white in the sunny spring flowers!

Not much to say about my card, except that I'm loving how the Champagne Shimmer Mist on my flower has shown up in the photo - it hardly ever does that!

Pop on over to Just Add Ink and check out the lovely design team inspiration this week.  Hopefully with school back (in Australia) you'll find some time to get inky and join the challenge fun with us!

Have you checked out our 'new look' blog and badge yet?  We're also on Facebook and Instagram so if you're not already following sign up at this post.  You'll find all our latest pins on Pinterest too.

Enjoy your weekend!

Just Add Ink #199 - Just Add a Sketch

Happy Friday friends ~

I'm popping by today to show you the latest sketch challenge over at Just Add Ink, courtesy of Tina.

I decided to go for a different shape to the circles shown in the sketch.  I cut up a little Burlap bag and pulled a few threads, then added a couple of lace flowers I've had in my stash for ages. Unfortunately I didn't have one slightly bigger than the other, which the sketch asks for, but close enough is good enough when you have creative licence right?

I used a base of the delicious Baked Brown Sugar card stock, with the Whisper White mat popped up on dimensionals.

If you'd like to play along with us this week, check out the sketch and all the design team inspiration over at JAI.  We always enjoy looking at your entries and seeing all the different 'takes' of the same sketch.

It's a long weekend in Australia and we're heading off to the lake for some fun water activities with several other families - water skiing, tubing and just playing in the sand.  Can't wait...but I find the lead up to time away is always sooo busy.  I wish I could skip that part and just have everything magically packed, the sheets changed, washing done and house clean (I ALWAYS have to come home to everything in order).

I hope your weekend is great!

Just Add Ink #198 - Blog Hop

Good Friday morning ~

It's finally here...my first (return) project for Just Add Ink.  It's an extra exciting post today because we're kicking the new year off with a Blog Hop & it's all about Thinlits or the Envelope Punch Board (EPB).

You will have hopped here from Nikki's blog.  There are 15 stops on our blog hop, and it's set up in a loop so it doesn't matter where you start.  All you need to do to follow along is click on the JAI blog hop button at the end of each post and you'll be taken to the next stop!  If you get stuck just head over to the JAI blog to find all the links.

I've created a box, a two tab file folder card and a tag using the EPB.  This is a must have item.  I love the way it punches two styles and it creates sooooo much more than envelopes!  It's also very compact to store - bonus.

I used a Crumb Cake base, with coordinating designer paper and seam binding ribbon.  My lovely pink felt flower embellishments were cut using the PTI Frilly Flowers die collection.  I've stitched them together with Whisper White baker's twine and a faceted button.  This holds them in place perfectly.

If you'd like more info on my projects please shout out and I'll be happy to help.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Now click on the button below to visit Paula and see what crafty goodness she's sharing.

Christmas Catch Up - lots of pics

Hi crafty friends ~

I'm popping in this evening to share a couple of Christmas gifts I made last year.  I just had to try one of the fabulous paper wreaths that were popping up all over blogland.  I used the Seasons of Style designer paper. It looked gorgeous presented in a hat box lined with tissue - and a perfect way to store it safely until next year!

I needed eight individual gifts for the carers at the Centre the twins attend a couple of days a week.  I didn't want to go the usual chocolate route.  I found these great little bells, originally plain white, and used my new (squeal) copic airbrush system to colour them.  It worked a treat.

Once coloured I used some heat & stick powder and dazzling diamonds to bling the bottoms up a bit, added some hemp twine (retired) and voila all done.  I took a few pics and you all know I'm a lousy photographer so please excuse the varied close ups and sizes of my images.  No amount of editing can help me lol.

Just a few grouped together before hanging individually on our tree...

...my favourite was the Pink bell...

...followed closely by Lime Green

Blue

Red

Maroon or Cherry Cobbler

Packed up ready to gift (I coordinated the striped ribbons with the colour of the bell inside)

Close Up

I'll be back at the end of the week with my first Just Add Ink project for 2014 - it's a blog hop so be sure to check it out.

Just Add Ink - 2013 A Year in Review

Hi friends ~

Happy 2014!  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that this lovely new year of ours is already shaping up to be a good one for you!

I have some exciting news to share ... the lovely ladies over at Just Add Ink recently asked me if I'd like to re-join the design team.  I consider these ladies family and I've missed them soooo much - 2013 was a tough and busy year for me and I had to sacrifice precious crafting time among other things - so I jumped at the opportunity.  I REALLY missed blogging last year too so I'm going to make a concerted effort to get back into it.  Being part of the design team will help me with that for sure *wink*.

Just Add Ink is currently still enjoying the summer break, but we thought it would be fun to choose our favourite projects of 2013.  I had very slim pickings, with only a few projects eligible so here it is ... original post here.

We'd love you to go back over your favourite JAI projects for 2013 and link up.  We'll be back with a fun Blog Hop on 17 January so be sure not to miss that!

I did take a few pics of some of the Christmas projects I put together.  They need editing and once I've done that I'll pop back to share.  Thanks for stopping by today *squeal - so excited to be back*.
